Abstract

This chapter deals with a highly popular and at the same time fiercely controversial psycho-neurobiological topic, namely consciousness and its possible neural foundations. In the following, we will set aside the almost philosophical dimensions of this topic, even though we appreciate their importance, and concentrate on approaches that are based on empirical psychological and neurobiological studies.
