Zusammenfassung
Dieses Kapitel befasst sich mit der Insomnie (regelmäßige, nicht organisch bedingte Schlafstörungen) und analysiert ihre Verbreitung in der allgemeinen Bevölkerung und bei Arbeitnehmern. Jugendliche sind durch Schul- und Arbeitszeiten ebenfalls besonders stark von zu kurzem und schlechtem Schlaf betroffen. Die wissenschaftlichen Studien zur Insomnie werden anschaulich aufbereitet und die nachgewiesenen Folgen von chronischen Schlafstörungen auf die körperliche und psychische Gesundheit dargestellt.
