Zusammenfassung
Änderungen des Klimas, z. T. mit deutlich höheren Temperaturen als heute, durchziehen die gesamte Erdgeschichte. Da fragt man sich, ob nicht auch natürliche anstatt menschlicher Ursachen der Erwärmung in Frage kommen. Wir gehen dieser Frage nach und diskutieren den Zusammenhang zwischen CO2, Wasserdampf und Klima in der Erdgeschichte und heute, die Rolle der Ozeane und der Sonne, um mit der Klimasensitivität einen zentralen Begriff der Klimadiskussion aufzugreifen.

Als Holozän wird die aktuelle Warmzeit (Interglazial) bezeichnet, die seit etwa 12.000 Jahren herrscht und insgesamt relativ mildes Klima beschert.

Eiskeile sind Phänomene im dauerhaft gefrorenen Untergrund („Dauerfrostboden“, „Permafrost“), bei denen es zum Einsickern von sommerlichem Schmelzwasser in Tieffrost-Schrumpfungsrisse des Eises kommt. Das Wasser dehnt sich dann im Winter aus und verdrängt das Umliegende, sodass es im Laufe der Zeit zu einem Keil heranwächst.

Tatsächlich gab es von Anfang an Überlegungen, die erste Messstelle dort einzurichten, mittlerweile gibt es eine solche natürlich.

Ein Extrembeispiel der Folgen eines drastischen, vulkanisch bedingten CO2-Anstiegs ist das Massenaussterben an der Wende vom Perm zur Trias, das bisher bedeutendste, seit es höheres Leben gibt, bei dem es übrigens auch zu einer drastischen Versauerung der Ozeane kam (vgl. Kleber 2020c).

Erschlossen aus δ18O, dem Maß für den Anteil der beiden wichtigsten Isotope des Sauerstoffs; dieses ist ein Indikator für die Menge an Eis, die den Ozeanen entzogen war, da 18O schwerer verdunstet als 16O und sich damit im Ozean anreichert. Da die globale Eismenge stark mit der globalen Temperatur zusammenhängt, gilt dieses Maß als Indikator für die Temperatur.

Wobei die zeitliche Auflösung der Rekonstruktion vergangener Klimaänderungen oft nicht ausreicht, um auszuschließen, dass es nicht auch Zeitabschnitte mit ähnlich steil verlaufenden Änderungen gegeben haben kann.

Man liest gelegentlich, dass der Anteil des Wasserdampfs am Treibhauseffekt 98 % betrüge, wobei diese Zahl auf das IPCC zurückgeführt wird. Dieser Wert findet sich jedoch, soweit wir herausfinden konnten, in keinem der Berichte, er scheint frei erfunden. Wenn, dann bezieht er sich möglicherweise auf die erdbodennächste Luft.

Mit der seltenen Ausnahme, dass eines der Atome aus einem schwereren Isotop besteht, z. B. 18O beim Sauerstoff, wodurch solche Moleküle ebenfalls asymmetrisch sind. Ferner kann es nach Smith & Newnham (1999) im sog. nahen Infrarotbereich, also außerhalb der üblicherweise von der Erdoberfläche ausgehenden Wärmestrahlung, zu schwachen Schwingungen kommen kann, die nach Karman et al. (2018) durch Kollision der Moleküle untereinander ausgelöst werden.

Wohlgemerkt: Die Aufnahme (Absorption) von Wärmestrahlung ist entscheidend, nicht deren Abgabe (Emission), was gelegentlich verwechselt wird (vgl. Kap. 5.4.8).

Auch die Absorption von ultravioletter Strahlung durch Sauerstoffmoleküle ändert im Gegensatz zu Rogelio (2018) daran nichts, da die damit verbundene Erwärmung sich in der Ozonschicht der Stratosphäre abspielt und keinen wesentlichen Einfluss auf die erdoberflächennahen Atmosphärenschichten nimmt. Zudem sinken die Temperaturen in der Stratosphäre.

Lediglich Ozon, O3, auf das wir ansonsten nicht weiter eingehen und das in der hohen Atmosphäre, der Stratosphäre, gehäuft auftritt, absorbiert in einem schmalen Band im Bereich des „atmosphärischen Fensters“.

Welcher Effekt sich aber mit der Temperaturabnahme überlagert, die immer noch auf die Schädigung der Ozonschicht durch Fluorkohlenwasserstoffe (FCKW) zurückgeht.

Nach einer wolkenfreien Winternacht bildet sich Nebel, der sich oft den ganzen Vormittag nicht auflöst. Steigt man auf einen Fernsehturm, erlebt man, dass es dort oben wärmer ist als am Boden. Die ganze Nacht über hat die Erdoberfläche durch Ausstrahlung Wärme verloren, und zwar so viel, dass sie irgendwann stärker abgekühlt ist als die darüberliegende Luft – eine Inversion (eine Umkehr der üblichen Temperaturschichtung der Luft) ist entstanden.

Auf Wärmeleitung, also bei direktem Kontakt unterschiedlich warmer Objekte, kann der Hauptsatz tatsächlich in der engen Interpretation angewendet werden. Bei Strahlung müsste aber schließlich jedes strahlende Objekt „wissen“, in welcher Richtung sich wärmere, in welcher sich kühlere Objekte befinden, und gezielt dorthin die Strahlung lenken. Der Treibhauseffekt wurde übrigens auch vielfach experimentell demonstriert, zuletzt von Frey (2020).

Die atmosphärische Zirkulation ist die Summe der großräumigen vertikalen und horizontalen Luftbewegungen. Sie ist eine Folge der räumlichen Unterschiede in der Sonneneinstrahlung, die zu regionalen Luftdruckunterschieden und damit Winden führen. Gegenspieler ist die ablenkende Kraft der Erdrotation (Coriolis-Scheinkraft), die einen Ausgleich von großräumigen Luftdruckunterschieden in der Höhe der Troposphäre verhindert. Diese Kraft wird in Erdnähe wiederum durch Reibung gebremst, sodass dort ein Ausgleich durch Winde erfolgen kann, der aber typischerweise auch nicht auf geradem Weg, sondern auf gekrümmten Pfaden erfolgt.

Aufgrund der mit der Höhe abnehmenden Druck- und Dichtewerte müsste nach Formel (5.1) auch in einer solchen Atmosphäre die mittlere Temperatur mit der Höhe sinken.

Diese Veröffentlichung enthält eine Vielzahl noch weit schwerwiegenderer Fehlschlüsse, auf die Aeschbach-Hertig (2007) ausführlich eingeht. Sie kann ebenfalls als ein Beispiel des Versagens des Begutachtungssystems gelten. Eine seriöse Zeitschrift dürfte eine Arbeit, die derart außerhalb ihrer sonstigen inhaltlichen Ausrichtung und Expertise liegt, eigentlich gar nicht zur Begutachtung annehmen, sondern müsste auf ein anderes Publikationsorgan verweisen, wo eine entsprechende Fachkompetenz vorliegt.
