Zusammenfassung
Auch unter der Bevölkerung im reproduktiven Alter ist Adipositas ein wachsendes Problem. Sie kann sowohl bei Frauen als auch Männern die Fertilität beeinträchtigen. Zudem stellt sie einen Risikofaktor dar für Komplikationen in der Schwangerschaft wie Gestationsdiabetes, Hypertonie und Präeklampsie. Kinder adipöser Frauen kommen häufiger mit hohem Geburtsgewicht zur Welt, was das Risiko der vaginalen Entbindung hebt (Schulterdystokie, Geburtsverletzungen der Mutter). Zahlreiche Frauen mit unerfülltem Kinderwunsch hoffen, nach einer bariatrischen Operation durch den Gewichtsverlust eine bessere Fertilität zu erlangen und so ihren Kinderwunsch erfüllen zu können. Oder sie versuchen, risikoärmere Voraussetzungen zu schaffen für eine spontane oder aber auch reproduktionsmedizinisch herbeigeführte Schwangerschaft.
