Zusammenfassung
Das Humeroulnargelenk wird hauptsächlich durch die knöcherne Formgebung des Olecranon stabilisiert. Dislozierte Frakturen führen damit nicht nur zu einem Ausfall der aktiven Streckfähigkeit, sondern ebenso zu einer Instabilität des Gelenkes, da der Humerus durch den Zug des Trizeps in das Olecranon gepresst wird. Insbesondere die fehlende Weichteildeckung macht das Olecranon anfällig für Frakturen. Die Fraktur resultiert zumeist aus dem Sturz auf den flektierten Ellenbogen oder indirekt als Hyperextensionstrauma.
