Zusammenfassung

Pädiatrische Palliativversorgung ist eine aktive und umfassende Versorgung, die physische, emotionale, soziale und spirituelle Bausteine miteinander verbindet. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf der höchstmöglichen Lebensqualität für das Kind und auf einer umfassenden Unterstützung der Familie. Zur Versorgung gehört die Therapie belastender Symptome, das Vorhalten von Entlastungsangeboten und die medizinisch-pflegerische sowie psychosoziale Betreuung bis zum Tod und darüber hinaus während der nachfolgenden Trauerphase. Neben epidemiologischen Fakten und wichtigen gesellschaftlichen Grundlagen erfährt der/die Leser*in auch Hintergründe zu den Unterschieden zwischen einer Palliativversorgung für Erwachsene und einer solchen für pädiatrische Patienten. Er/Sie erhält einen breiten Überblick über die vorhandenen Versorgungsstrukturen – stationär und ambulant – in Deutschland. Wo bekommen Betroffene die notwendige Hilfe und welche Voraussetzungen müssen dafür erfüllt sein?
