Zusammenfassung
Medizintechnische Hilfsmittel wie Prothesen, Implantate, am Körper getragene Insulinpumpen und Sprachcomputer haben sich in den letzten Jahren rasant entwickelt. Die Konvergenz von Medizintechnik, Informatik, Robotik und Materialwissenschaften hat in den letzten 20 Jahren zu einer explosionsartigen (Weiter-)Entwicklung und gesteigerten Verfügbarkeit solcher Hilfsmittel für Menschen mit Einschränkungen geführt. Eine neue Kategorie hochtechnisierter digitaler Hilfsmittel ist entstanden; sie enthält sensor- und computergesteuerte bionische Arm- und Beinprothesen, Cochlea-Implantate für gehörlose Menschen und retina-implantierte Sehprothesen für blinde Menschen.
