Abstract
Injuries of the hand and wrist are common in athletes. Nevertheless, therapy and rehabilitation are challenging, especially when initially disregarded. To obtain satisfying results and return to play in different athletic disciplines after hand and wrist injuries, the management depends on different factors. If the management is not adequate, severe complications such as prolonged time away from sport and permanent disability can occur. After appropriate conservative or surgical treatment, the focus is on rehabilitation to restore functionality. In some cases, early protected return to sports in specific sports is possible.
