Zusammenfassung
Viele Tumorerkrankungen wie Hirnmetastasen, Meningeome, Vestibularisschwannome und andere gutartige Tumoren treten mit wachsender Inzidenz gehäuft im Alter auf und werden oftmals von zunehmender Komorbidität begleitet. Die stereotaktische Radiochirurgie („stereotactic radiosurgery“; SRS) hat sich längst als minimalinvasive Behandlungsoption zwischen der mikrochirurgischen Operation und der perkutan fraktionierten Radiotherapie zur Behandlung dieser Tumoren unter Beachtung von Größe, Konfiguration und Lokalisation etabliert. Während ausreichend Daten zur langfristigen Verträglichkeit und lokalen Tumorkontrolle nach SRS-Behandlung existieren, finden sich nur wenige Daten in der Population der älteren Patienten. Diese zeigen, dass unabhängig von der behandelten Tumorentität das Alter keinen wesentlichen Einfluss auf Nebenwirkungen und Effektivität der SRS zeigt, sodass die SRS gerade bei durch Komorbidität nur eingeschränkt oder inoperablen Patienten eine attraktive Behandlungsoption darstellt.
