Zusammenfassung
Die Beatmung kann sich ungünstig auf verschiedene Organe und deren Funktion auswirken, v. a. auf die Lunge selbst und die Herz-Kreislauf-Funktion. Wesentliche Ursachen sind die unphysiologischen Schwankungen des intrathorakalen Drucks sowie der Beatmungsdruck und das angewandte Atemhubvolumen. Von besonderer Bedeutung sind die beatmungsassoziierte Pneumonie und die Volo-/Barotraumatisierung der Lunge.
