Zusammenfassung

Gefahren infolge Ermüdung am Arbeitsplatz fallen in den Aufgabenbereich des Ermüdungsrisikomanagements (fatigue risk management [FRM]). Sich lediglich an Arbeits- und Ruhezeitregelungen zu orientieren, erwies sich als nicht ausreichend, weil damit spezifische Belastungs- und Beanspruchungssituationen während risikoreicher Arbeitszeiten nicht berücksichtigt wurden. Umfangreiche Analysen müdigkeitsbedingter Unfälle waren eine der Grundlagen für die Entwicklung des FRM. Neben der Identifikation und Vermeidung müdigkeitsbedingter Unfallrisiken, sind die Schulung und das Schaffen von Bewusstsein für verantwortungsvolles Handeln wichtige Ziele eines erfolgreichen FRM. Maßnahmen des FRM basieren auf wissenschaftlicher Evidenz und wurden bereits in einigen Bereichen der Wirtschaft und des öffentlichen Verkehrs erfolgreich etabliert. Das FRM eignet sich allerdings nicht für kleine Arbeitseinheiten oder für Einzelpersonen. Hier kann das vigilanzbasierte Schlaf-wach Management zum Einsatz kommen.
