Zusammenfassung

Im Gegensatz zur Leistenhernie zeigt die Nabelhernie innerhalb der ersten Lebensjahre eine überwiegende Tendenz zum Spontanverschluss. Lediglich größere Nabelhernien mit einem Durchmesser der Bruchpforte >1,5 cm sollten bereits im Säuglingsalter verschlossen werden, da in diesen Fällen eine spontane Obliteration meist ausbleibt. Da eine Darminkarzeration die Ausnahme darstellt, kann grundsätzlich der Spontanverlauf einer Nabelhernie abgewartet werden.
