Zusammenfassung

Die Aufmerksamkeitsdefizits-Hyperaktivitätsstörung (ADHS) im Erwachsenalter geht mit Auffälligkeiten in den Bereichen Aufmerksamkeit, Hyperaktivität und Impulsivität einher. Neuropsychologische Untersuchungen zeigen Einschränkungen in Teilen der Exekutivfunktionen (z. B. Inhibition und Planen), im Arbeitsgedächtnis, in mehreren Teilbereichen der Aufmerksamkeit (vor allem Daueraufmerksamkeit/Vigilanz), in der Verarbeitungsgeschwindigkeit sowie im prospektiven Gedächtnis, welches mit den Exekutivfunktionen assoziiert ist. Im Zusammenhang mit ADHS wird häufig auch das Thema „underachievement“ diskutiert: Betroffene haben aufgrund kognitiver, emotionaler und motivationaler Einschränkungen enorme Schwierigkeiten, deren intellektuelles Potenzial abzurufen.
