Zusammenfassung
In Zeiten steigender Antibiotikaresistenzen ist eine schnelle Diagnose von Infektionen dringend notwendig, um Erkrankte zielgerichtet behandeln zu können. Derzeit können wichtige Informationen über das Pathogen meist aber erst nach ein bis drei Tagen zurückgemeldet werden. Neue spektroskopische Methoden haben das Potenzial, diese Zeit auf nur wenige Stunden zu reduzieren. Mithilfe der Raman-Spektroskopie können Bakterien in einer Urinprobe innerhalb von nur 35 Minuten identifiziert werden. Eine Bestimmung der Antibiotikaresistenz kann in etwa 3½ Stunden erreicht werden.
