Zusammenfassung

Nach Jahrzehnten intensiver Forschung scheint der Zeitpunkt gekommen, an dem Roboter endlich die Käfige ihrer Industrieroboter-Arbeitszellen (wie z. B. bei Schweißrobotern bei der Automobilherstellung) verlassen und beginnen, Hand in Hand mit Menschen zu arbeiten. Dies wird mittlerweile nicht nur von Robotik-Forschern, sondern auch von führenden Automobil- und IT-Unternehmen und natürlich auch von einigen weitsichtigen Industrieroboterherstellern angenommen. Mehrere Technologien, wie z. B. Rechnerleistung, Kommunikationstechnologien, Sensoren und Elektronik-Integration, Antriebstechnik, die für diese neue Art von Robotern erforderlich sind, haben inzwischen die notwendige Leistungsfähigkeit erreicht.
