Zusammenfassung

Das Buchkapitel befasst sich mit den Grundlagen und der Anwendung der Internationalen Klassifikation der Funktionsfähigkeit, Behinderung und Gesundheit (ICF) der Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO). Die ICF dient als „Strukturgeber“ dieses Buches und beschreibt die funktionale Erfahrung von Menschen, die mit Gesundheitseinschränkungen leben müssen. Vorgestellt wird das zugrunde liegende Modell der Funktionsfähigkeit und Behinderung und die Klassifizierung inklusive der Struktur des Klassifikationssystems. Die fünf Komponenten der ICF (Körperfunktionen und -strukturen, Aktivitäten, Teilhabe (Partizipation), Umweltfaktoren und personenbezogene Faktoren) werden erläutert. Darauf aufbauend möchten wir dem Leser die Anwendungsmöglichkeiten im Bereich der Neurogeriatrie vorstellen und praxisnah aufzeigen.
