Zusammenfassung

Im folgenden Kapitel wird ein Überblick über Pathophysiologie und Diagnostik von Ventralhernien gegeben. Nikotinabusus und postoperative Wundheilungsstörungen zählen zu den wichtigsten Risikofaktoren für das Auftreten einer Narbenhernie. Neben einer exakten Anamneseerhebung, die insbesondere bei Narben- und Rezidivhernien wichtig ist, zählen die klinische Untersuchung und die Sonographie zu den wichtigen diagnostischen Maßnahmen vor einer operativen Versorgung. Eine CT-Untersuchung des Abdomens ist vor allem bei adipösen Patienten und großen Ventralhernien indiziert.
