Zusammenfassung
Wie im „richtigen Leben“ ist auch in Schulklassen „keiner wie der andere“ – so der Titel eines Klassikers der Persönlichkeitspsychologie (Asendorpf 1988). Um professionell handeln zu können, ist es hilfreich, wenn Lehrkräfte auf diese Individualität ihrer Schülerinnen und Schüler eingehen. Dies gilt für die Art der Wissensvermittlung (Kap. 17 zu Differenzierung und Individualisierung), aber auch für den Umgang mit Unterschieden im Verhalten und Erleben. Insbesondere diejenigen Schülerinnen und Schüler, die als auffällig wahrgenommen werden bzw. bei denen eine Störung vorliegt, wie etwa die sogenannten internalisierenden Störungen Depression und Angst oder die sogenannten externalisierenden Störungen oppositionelles, aufsässiges oder aggressives Verhalten (s. z. B. Martel 2013), benötigen besondere Aufmerksamkeit.
Auffälligkeiten oder Störungen findet man in beträchtlichem Umfang bei Kindern und Jugendlichen – so identifizierte z. B. eine vom Robert-Koch-Institut durchgeführte Studie zur gesundheitlichen Lage der Kinder und Jugendlichen in Deutschland ca. 20 % Betroffene (Hölling, Schlack, Petermann, Ravens-Sieberer, Mauz & die KIGGS Study Group 2014). Dies entspricht relativ genau dem Ergebnis einer repräsentativen Untersuchung, die vor einigen Jahren in New Haven in USA durchgeführt wurde (Carter, Wagmiller, Gray, McCarthy, Horwitz & Briggs-Gowan 2010): Hier wurden 21,6 % der Kinder als auffällig diagnostiziert.
