Zusammenfassung
Dieses Kapitel gibt einen Überblick über die wichtigsten emotions- und kognitionspsychologischen Grundlagen der Verhaltenstherapie. Emotionen und ihre Interaktionen mit kognitiven Prozessen werden dargestellt. Es wird erläutert, wie sie sich gegenseitig beeinflussen und welche Rolle sie bei emotionalen Störungen spielen. Als kognitive Prozesse werden Aufmerksamkeit, Gedächtnis, Interpretationen und Assoziationen beschrieben. Theoretische Modelle und empirische Befunde zur Rolle dieser Prozesse bei Angststörungen und Depressionen werden vorgestellt, ebenso wie die wichtigsten experimentellen Paradigmen zur Erforschung dieser Prozesse. Implikationen der empirischen Befunde für die verhaltenstherapeutische Praxis werden diskutiert, darunter auch neue therapeutische Ansätze der »Cognitive Bias Modification«: computerbasierte Trainings, mit denen verzerrte kognitive Prozesse direkt beeinflusst werden sollen, um verhaltenstherapeutische Maßnahmen zu ergänzen.
