Zusammenfassung
Die Inzidenz der Skapulafrakturen wird mit Werten zwischen 0,47 % und 6,7 % angegeben. Mit einem Anteil von ca. 3–5 % der Verletzungen des Schultergürtels und ca. 0,4–1 % aller Frakturen stellt die Fraktur der Skapula einen verhältnismäßig geringen Anteil aller Frakturen dar. Sie ereignen sich zumeist im Kontext einer Mehrfachverletzung, da mechanisch häufig ein Hochrasanztrauma verantwortlich zeichnet, die muskulär so gut gesicherte Skapula zu frakturieren. So liegt ätiologisch in 85–93 % aller Skapulafrakturen ein Hochrasanztrauma zugrunde. Die Skapulafraktur wird aufgrund der Schwere der im Vordergrund der initialen Behandlung stehenden ablenkenden oder erst sekundär erkannten Begleitverletzungen häufig primär übersehen. Skapulahalsfrakturen entstehen in der Regel durch starke Hebel- oder Zugkräfte, die auf das Schultergelenk einwirken.
