Zusammenfassung
Das Jahr 1846 gilt als Geburtsjahr der modernen Anästhesie – die erste Äthernarkose wurde demonstriert. In den letzten 50 Jahren wurden über 700 fluorierte Verbindungen synthetisiert. Isofluran war in den 1980er und 1990er Jahren das wichtigste volatile Anästhetikum. Heute sind Desfluran und Sevofluran die Standardsubstanzen in der Inhalationsanästhesie. Die Grundbegriffe der Inhalationsanästhetika, die Wechselwirkung mit Atemkalk, Wirkmechanismen und die klinischen Aspekte der Inhalationsanästhetika werden in diesem Kapitel vorgestellt.
