Abstract

This chapter presents intraoperative medial collateral ligament (MCL) injury during total knee arthroplasty. It describes its incidence, lesion types, causes, intraoperative findings, treatment types, tips to avoid its occurrence, and figures of lesion types and treatments.

Keywords

Acknowledgments

The current chapter was financially supported by FAPESP grant number 2015/10317–7 as the specimens at the figures were primarily used for the grant-related project. Franciozi CES received postdoctoral scholarship from FAPESP supporting his scientific activities at the University of Southern California during 2015–2016. Carvalho RT received financial support while performing his Ph.D. activities at the University of Southern California during 2016.
