Abstract
Dynamics of a single charge is analyzed when electromagnetic wave of finite length interacts with it. Extreme case of impact on atom by a very short pulse, which is produced by relativistic motion of a charge, is examined. Theory for the field reaction force is developed, which is the missing link between dynamics of charge and radiation that it generates.
