Zusammenfassung

Das junge Forschungsfeld der Plasmamedizin widmet sich der Anwendung kalter Plasmen in Biologie und Medizin. Hierbei liegt der Fokus auf der Beeinflussung der Zellfunktionen mithilfe angeregter Gase – den kalten Plasmen. Im Vordergrund stehen dabei v. a. die in diesen Gasen gebildeten reaktiven Spezies des Sauerstoffs und Stickstoffs. Diese reaktiven Sauerstoffspezies (ROS) bzw. Stickstoffspezies (RNS) werden zwar im Plasma durch Gasanregung erzeugt, stellen aber im biologischen Sinn keine unbekannten Spezies dar. Speziell Zellen des Immunsystems bilden zur Abwehr von Mikroorganismen selbst große Mengen dieser Radikale. Hauptquellen für reaktive Sauerstoffspezies sind dabei die Enzyme NADPH Oxidase (NOX), Superoxid-Dismutase (SOD) sowie die Myeloperoxidase (MPO), welche in der Lage sind, ausgehend vom Sauerstoff O2 und NADPH, die ROS O2-, H2O2 und ClO- zu bilden. Basierend auf diesen Parallelen soll die unterstützende Wirkung kalter Plasmen in der Wundheilung dargestellt werden.
