Die Normalverteilung ist eine stetige Verteilung. Ihre besondere Bedeutung liegt darin, dass sie eine Grenzverteilung für viele stochastische Prozesse ist. Diese Eigenschaft ist in Grenzwertsätzen erfasst. Einer davon ist der zentrale Grenzwertsatz (siehe Abschnitt 25.4).
