Abstract
There are flashlights, and there are lasers. They are somehow the same: devices that emit light. But we also know that there must be a substantial difference between the two. There is something that makes the mood become futuristic as soon as a laser turns up in a conversation. It is impossible to think of a modern, technological world without lasers. They read our CDs, DVDs and Blue Rays, can fix vision defects in our eyes, measure distances, read bar-codes and replace wooden pointers during presentations.
