Zusammenfassung

Das Fachgebiet der Physikalische und Rehabilitationsmedizin (PRM) definiert sich aus dem Modell der Funktionsfähigkeit der WHO. Ziel der PRM ist die Verbesserung der Funktionsfähigkeit auf den Ebenen Körperfunktionen und -strukturen, Aktivitäten und Teilhabe auf dem Hintergrund von Erkrankung bzw. Gesundheitsstörung sowie der Kontextfaktoren. Die PRM verfolgt sowohl eine kurative als auch eine rehabilitative Strategie. Sie umfasst sowohl diagnostische Maßnahmen zur Krankheitsdiagnostik als auch das Assessment zur Beurteilung der Funktionsfähigkeit. Das Interventionsspektrum ist sehr breit und umfasst sowohl die medikamentöse Therapie, die physikalische Therapie als auch ein umfassendes Management der rehabilitativen Interventionen. Bei allen komplexen Funktionsstörungen erfolgt die Rehabilitation in multiprofessionellen und interdisziplinären Teams. Fachärztinnen und Fachärzte für PRM arbeiten in verschiedensten klinischen Einrichtungen, von der Akutmedizin über die postakute Rehabilitation bis hin zu stationären und ambulanten Zentren für die Rehabilitation bei chronischen Erkrankungen. Darüber hinaus können sie in freier Praxis tätig sein. Das Spektrum der behandelten Krankheitsbilder ist in der PRM sehr breit, wobei Schwerpunkte häufig in der Frührehabilitation, der Rehabilitation bei Erkrankungen des Bewegungs- und Nervensystems sowie der muskuloskelettalen Medizin liegt.
