Zusammenfassung

Periostale Verknöcherungen sind vielfach zuverlässige diagnoseweisende Indikatoren sowohl von lokalen (z. B. Tumor, Entzündung, Trauma) als auch systemischen Knochenerkrankungen (z. B. hypertrophische Osteoarthropathie, EMO-Syndrom, Pachydermoperiostose). Da das Periost relativ früh auf pathologische Prozesse im Knochen reagiert, ist die Kenntnis der radiologischen Phänomenologie (z. B. kontinuierliche/diskontinuierliche Ossifikation) von Periostverknöcherungen wichtig. Traumainduzierte proliferierende Prozesse an den Hand- und Fußröhrenknochen sollten mit Hilfe von Klinik und Radiologie sicher als solche erkannt werden, um in Anbetracht der schwierigen Histologie fatale diagnostische und therapeutische Fehlentscheidungen zu verhindern.
