Zusammenfassung
Autonomie bedeutet Selbstbestimmung bezüglich seiner Gedanken (intellektuell) und Gefühle (affektiv). Der Gegenwert zur Autonomie ist die Fremdbestimmung, bei der andere Personen vorgeben, wie man sich entscheiden und verhalten soll. Autonomie kommt in mehreren psychologischen Theorien und Modellen vor. Autonomie entwickelt sich zum einen durch Sozialisation über die Lebenszeit hinweg, also durch die Prägung von Eltern, Freunden, Schule, Arbeitgeber etc. Zum anderen sind die drei Voraussetzungen Selbstvertrauen, Selbstbehauptung und Selbstwertschätzung notwendig, damit jemand autonom handeln kann. Autonomie spielt in vielen Lebensbereichen eine Rolle, z. B. in Bildung, Medizin oder Therapie. Auch im Arbeitsleben ist Autonomie zentral, dort führt sie zu mehr Selbstwirksamkeit, Motivation, Arbeitseinsatz, sicherem Arbeiten, Wohlbefinden und Verbundenheit. Auf Grundlage der dargestellten Informationen lässt sich ableiten, wie Autonomie in der Gesellschaft gefördert werden kann.
