Zusammenfassung
Die Papilla nervi optici stellt den sichtbaren intraokularen Teil des Nervus opticus dar. Hier konfluieren alle nicht myeliniserten Axonen der retinalen Ganglienzellen. Von dort aus gehen die Axonen (im Nervus opticus schon myelinisiert) Richtung Chiasma opticum. Da in der Papille keine Zapfen und Stäbchen vorhanden sind, ist keine Lichtwahrnehmung möglich, so dass die Papilla nervi optici physiologisch den „blinden Fleck“ bildet. Die Papille hat eine interindividuell unterschiedliche Größe mit einer Exkavation in der Mitte und einem Rand. Die Arteria und Vena centralis retinae treten aus der Papille aus. Die Blutversorgung der Papille erfolgt über den Circulus arteriosus Zinnii.
