Zusammenfassung
Vielversprechende Effizienztechnologien und der Ausbau der „green economy“ alleine reichen nicht aus, um einen globalen Temperaturanstieg von mehr als durchschnittlich 2 °C zu stoppen. Ein sich ungehindert entwickelnder Klimawandel hätte weitreichende Konsequenzen für die Transportbranche, welche ihrerseits wiederum einer der größten Emittenten von Treibhausgasen ist. Eine klimapolitische Regulierung des internationalen Transportes ist demnach wahrscheinlich und sollte in der Praxis angemessen diskutiert werden. Der vorliegende Beitrag beschreibt einen Anwendungsfall: Die interne Logistik von Daimler Trucks wurde daraufhin untersucht, wie viele Emissionen ihr in einem Szenario zustünden, in dem durch das Setzen eines an der Klimawissenschaft orientierten Emissionsbudgets das 2 °C Ziel mit einer mittleren Wahrscheinlichkeit eingehalten werden kann. Die gefundenen Ergebnisse lassen auf systemische Risiken schließen, welche in der Externalisierung der Sozialkosten von Kohlenstoffemissionen im Transportbereich – und damit bei Daimler Trucks als transportintensives Unternehmen – liegen.
