Zusammenfassung

Kap. 5 gibt einen Überblick über charakteristische Krankheitsmerkmale der gängigsten psychischen Störungen. Dazu gehören die Schizophrenie, affektive Störungen, Abhängigkeiten, Demenzen, Angststörungen, Essstörungen und Persönlichkeitsstörungen. Dabei wird die Einordnung der Störungen und deren Subtypen in Klassifikationssysteme aufgezeigt, Informationen über Häufigkeit und Entstehungsmodelle der Störungen werden skizziert, und deren Verlauf wird umrissen. Es werden psychotherapeutische oder sozialpsychiatrische Behandlungsansätze beschrieben, die einen Ausblick auf mögliche Wege zur Genesung geben. Medikamentöse Therapien werden in Kap. 6 erläutert.
