Abstract
The acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) provides stability for the strut that bridges the thoracic cage and the shoulder girdle. The AC joint capsule is the primary stabilizer for anteroposterior and distraction. Most of the vertical stability is conferred by the conoid ligament , and the trazepoid prevents medial displacement of the scapula.
