Zusammenfassung
Die Menschheit ist in Bewegung. Auf dem ganzen Erdball drängen die Menschen vom Land in die Städte. Diese gewaltige Wanderung hat dramatische Veränderungen der globalen Siedlungslandschaft zur Folge. Dieser Artikel führt diesbezüglich in das Buch ein, und zeigt bereitet die quantitativen Ausmaße der globalen Migration in die Städte auf und erörtert die Gründe für die Anziehungskraft der Städte bzw. die Push-Faktoren ländlicher Gebiete. Darüber hinaus wird kurz dargelegt, welche gesellschaftliche Bedeutung die Städte auf unserem Erdball heute haben und welche Herausforderungen auf eine globale urbane Gesellschaft zukommen.
