Abstract
Alva Noë (born in 1964) is a philosopher whose activity has mainly developed within the fields of the philosophy of mind and perception. He earned his BPhil from the University of Oxford and his PhD from Harvard University. In 2003, he joined the University of California, Berkeley, as an Associate Professor and as a member of the Institute for Cognitive and Brain Sciences. From 2011 to 2012, he was Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at the City University of New York Graduate Center. He was also visiting scholar or fellow in several universities, including the Institut Jean Nicod in Paris and the Oxford Center for Cognitive Neuroscience. He is currently Professor of Philosophy at the University of California, Berkeley.
