Abstract

Flexible mechanism is an important orientation of workflow study. This paper, in the design process of a workflow system based on SOA, studies the flexible mechanism of workflow system from such aspects as system expansion, workflow modeling and workflow running. It proposes various methods based on the three divisions of service granularity, roles and content routing to enhance the flexibility expansion of the system. Meanwhile, it adopts a modeling scheme of flexible workflow based on ECA rules and Web Service and develops a graphical workflow modeling tool based on ECA rules, which enhance not only the flexibility of workflow modeling but also that of workflow running. Through the practical development of the system, the validity of the flexible implementation mechanism proposed in this paper is verified. By combining several flexible implementation mechanisms and applying them in the practical system development, this research lays a good foundation for further studies on the flexibility of workflow system, such as correction examination of workflow modeling and exception handling of workflow running.
