Resin Cements: Factors Affecting Clinical Performance

  • Chapter
  • First Online:
A Practical Clinical Guide to Resin Cements

Abstract

This chapter discusses in detail the factors that may affect the clinical performance of resin cements. As this class of cements is more complex than the older conventional cements, several factors affect its performance in the mouth including the strength of the restoration material, manipulation of the resin cement, polymerization, and adhesives among others. The different types of dental ceramics and laboratory composites as pretreatments are somewhat dictated by the type of ceramic or composite used.
