Zusammenfassung
Eine souveräne Literaturübersicht über das gesamte Gebiet der Virus-Interferenz wurde 1950 von W. Henle veröffentlicht; spätere Sammelreferate stammen u. a. von Lennette (1951), Schlesinger (1959a, b), Isaacs (1959a) und Isaacs u. Burke (1959). Interferenzähnliche Erscheinungen sind auf zahlreichen Gebieten der Mikrobiologie beobachtet worden, so bei den Bakteriophagen (s. z. B. Delbrück u. Luria 1942), bei den Viren der höheren Pflanzen (s. z. B. Bennett 1951), bei den Rickettsien (s. z. B. Price 1953), bei den Bakterien (s. z. B. Galliard, Lapierre u. Rousset 1958), bei den Pilzen (S. z. B. Salvin u. Bell 1955) und bei den Protozoen (s. z. B. Tyzzer 1941). Hier soll ausschließlich von Interferenzphänomenen bei den tierischen Viren die Rede sein, wobei offen bleiben mag, ob man sich bei einem Vergleich mehr durch die Ähnlichkeit oder durch die Verschiedenheit der oben angedeuteten Erscheinungen beeindrucken lassen soll.
