Abstract

During transcription, the nascent RNA chain becomes associated with proteins, forming complexes that are visible under the electron microscope (Gall and Callan 1962; Malcolm and Sommerville 1977; Beyer et al. 1980) and that are probably the structures in which processing of hnRNA takes place.
