Abstract

The duration of the phases of the left ventricular systole depends intrinsically on the condition of the myocardium and its contractile synergy as varied by means of the preload, afterload and heart rate (HR) (Fig. 1) [5, 7–9, 11, 15, 18, 21, 23, 26–29, 32, 43, 53, 55, 61, 66, 72, 73, 75–80, 82, 83, 85, 86].
