Investigations on the Membrane Activity of Cytostatic Methyl Hydrazones

  • Chapter

Abstract

N′-Methyl-N′-β-chloroethylhydrazones show cytostatic, immune suppressive and immune stimulative activities according to their dosage and way of application. These hydrazones cause a strong inhibition of the uptake of nucleosides into Ehrlich-ascites-carcinoma cells (EAC), but no interference with DNA or RNA polymerizing systems could be observed. Therefore, an attack on the cell membrane was supposed.
