Abstract
Extracellular Ca2+ and K+ levels (|Ca2+|e, |K+|e) were recorded with ion selective microelectrodes in the cerebellar cortex. Repetitive (10–20 Hz) stimulation of a parallel fiber beam evoked an increase in |K+|e from its resting level (3 mmol/l) to about 8 mmol/l, whereas |Ca2+|e decreased from 1.2 to about 0.9 mmol/l.
