Summary
The L. H. test as an index of humoral allergy was followed in 100 patients with silicosis. In 62 per cent of the patients the L. H. serum reaction was negative, independently of the stage shows of development of the disease.
This shows that the antihistamine factor is absent or very low in silicosis.
Clinical observations and experimental data concerning the excess of histamine in this condition are thus confirmed by an immunological approach.
A similar frequency of negative L. H. serum reaction was found in other conditions with a related pathogenetical mechanism, such as rheumatoid polyarthritis and rheumatic fever. These findings could be correlated with disturbances in the mechanism of the synthesis of antibodies, especially of immunoglobulin A.
Résumé
On a suivi, chez 100 malades avec silicose, le mode de se comporter de la séro-réaction Latex-histamine (L. H.), comme indice de la présence d’une allergie humorale. On a constaté que, dans une proportion de 62 p. 100, la séro-réaction. L. H. était négative, indifféremment du stade évolutif de la silicose; ce qui prouve que, au cours de cette maladie, le facteur antihistaminique est absent ou très diminué.
Gráce à cette méthode immunologique, se confirment les observations cliniques et les données expérimentales concernant l’excès de l’histamine en silicose.
La fréquence de la séro-réaction L. H. négative, constatée dans le cas de la silicose, est très rapprochée de ce qu’on a observé dans d’autres maladies avec une pathogénie apparentée: la P. C. E. et le rhumatisme aigu.
La baisse du pouvoir antihistaminique des silicotiques pourrait être mise en corrélation avec un certain trouble des mécanismes dans la synthèse d’anticorps, et en particulier de l’IgA.
