Abstract

1. The ontogenetic development of the two segments of the globus pallidus (= pallidum) and the corpus subthalamicum of Luys was compared with the ontogeny of the corpus striatum (= striatum). The study was made by using serial histologic sections and reconstructed models of human embryonic brains. The description of the frontal series runs from the caudal toward the oral end.
