Zusammenfassung

Die Nebennierenrinde besteht aus drei Zonen, deren jede bestimmte spezifische Hormone produziert. Das einzige bisher bekannte Hormon der Zona glomerulosa ist das Mineralocorticoid Aldosteron, die wichtigsten Hormone der Zona fasciculata sind das Glucocorticoid Cortisol und das weniger kohlenhydrataktive Corticosteron. Die Zona reticularis enthält unter anderem das Nebennierenandrogen Dehydroisoandrosteron, Oestrogène und Gestagene, möglicherweise 17-Oxyprogesteron. Jede Hormonproduktion ist eine geregelte Größe. Regelfaktoren sind entweder die tropen Hormone des Hypophysenvorderlappens oder andere zum Teil noch unbekannte Faktoren. Während die Hormonproduktion der Zonae fasciculata und reticularis vom adrenocorticotropen Hormon der Hypophyse, dem ACTH, gesteuert wird, ist die Regulation der Aldosteron-produktion noch ungeklärt. ACTH steigert die Bildung von Delta-5-Pregnenolon, einer hormonal inaktiven Vorstufe des Cortisol. Spezifische Fermente der Zona fasciculata synthetisieren daraus Cortisol bzw. Corticosteron, wahrscheinlich unter Zwischenschaltung des androgen-aktiven 17-Oxyprogesteron. ACTH und Cortisolproduktion steuern sich gegenseitig, d.h. je höher der Cortisolspiegel im Blut, desto geringer die ACTH-Produktion, und je niedriger der Cortisolspiegel, desto stärker die ACTH-Bildung und -Ausschüttung.
