Summary
Based on previous experience (GILLET 1985–1987), a monovalent heat pump, refrigeration system has been designed and set up to fullfill the heating and cooling needs of a big TV complex building now completed in Brussels.
The originality of the system lies in independant heat sinks and sources linked through a rain water cistern, namely
-
— Water pipe net buried under the building
-
— Water pipe net buried in the ground around the building
-
— Static refrigerant heat exchangers either submerged in the cistern or hanging from the ceiling of the studios for retrieval of waste heat emited by the lighting.
-
— Dynamic refrigerant heat exchangers working either on the cistern water or the ventilation air.
A huge roof integrated solar collector is part of the system, linked with the air ducts for preheating of air and with the cistern for extra heat collection.
The system is controlled and monitored by an automtic recording programmable device.
The results recorded during the first winter month of operation are presented. Thermal comfort requirements are met with a reasonable electricity consumption.
