Abstract
The pesticide residue chemist always has two questions before him-what is it and how much is there? Previous papers have pointed out that gas chromatography is a very valuable tool for pesticide residues. This technique does a very good job of separating complex mixtures. Also pointed out is the need for a specific detector, because the residue chemist is plagued with associated crop extracts that probably never are completely removed from a sample. The electron affinity and electrical conductivity devices are highly discriminatory-type detectors which have been used for pesticide analysis.
Presented in part at the 144th National Meeting of the Amer. Chem. Soc., Div. of Agr. and Food Chem., Los Angeles, California, April, 1963.
