Abstract

It is a metaphyseal hamartoma, made up of histio-fibroblasts; it is generally small in size and ephemeral; at times it is larger, but even when this is so it is rarely symptomatic, and exceptionally persistent. The first variety was named «fibrous defect of the cortex» or «fibrous metaphyseal defect», while the second was named «non-ossifying or non-osteogenic fibroma». This is actually the same lesion, and the only differential criteria consists in its size.
