Metamorphe Gesteine der hochgradigen Amphibolitfazies sind eng vergesellschaftet mit Migmatiten. Diese generelle Geländebeobachtung beschreibt READ (1957) folgendermaßen: „One of the most firmly established facts in metamorphic geology is the close association in the field of highest-grade metamorphic rocks and migmatites“.
