Zusammenfassung

Die Hypothyreose, deren schwerster Grad das Vollbild des durch typische Hautveränderungen gekennzeichneten Myxödems darstellt, ist Folge einer Minderproduktion von bzw. eines Mangels an Schilddrüsenhormonen, so daß der Hormonbedarf des Organismus nicht gedeckt werden kann. Die Ursachen der seit 1836 bekannten und 1873 von Gull erstmals genau beschriebenen Erkrankung sind unterschiedlich, so daß sich die in Tabelle 1 verzeichneten Formen von erworbenen Hypothyreosen ergeben.
